At the heart of Silicon Valley, San Jose has declared its ambition to become the most innovative city in America by 2020. Through a Smart City vision that promotes itself as a “demonstration city” to the technology giants that call San Jose home, the city has opened itself up to the innovation surrounding it. How does a city work to be inclusive as a test bed for technology, while ensuring quality services and no citizen is left behind? During this event, we explored how San Jose and other cities in the region have balanced opening their city to technology, while prioritizing digital inclusion alongside digital infrastructure and broadband.
