Connecting state and local government leaders

We’ll discuss Superstorm Sandy’s impacts and local government IT challenges with panelists Cordell Schachter of NYCDOT and Justin Heyman of Franklin Twp., N.J.

GovExec State & Local will host an upcoming editorial webcast, “Improving security, resiliency and other IT challenges in local government,” and we invite you to join us.

Our panelists are Cordell Schachter, the chief technology officer for the New York City Department of Transportation—read our Q&A interview with him from August—and Justin Heyman, IT director for Franklin Township, New Jersey, about 45 miles southwest of Manhattan.

Although we’ll be covering a wide range of topics under the larger IT security umbrella, we wanted to spend a little bit of time discussing city and local government IT resiliency lessons from Superstorm Sandy, which had a great impact on state and local governments in New York and New Jersey and elsewhere along the East Coast nearly two years ago.

But there’s a lot more to talk about. Join moderators GovExec State & Local Senior Editor Michael Grass and GovExec Media Group Events Editor and Technology Reporter Frank Konkel on Thursday, Sept. 25 at 2 p.m. EDT/11 a.m. PDT.
