Unlike other awards handed out during the banquet that denote exceptional work by individuals, the agency awards reflect the benefits of teamwork. Ten agencies received awards at the Washington gala last month:
Bureau of Indian Affairs, for the Trust Asset and Accounting Management System, through which BIA integrated legacy systems that track real estate, land titles and tribal assets
Defense Department, for its freight management program, through which the Transportation Policy Group installed a commercial billing application to track more than $1 billion in annual payments to 600 carriers for 12 million shipments
Defense Logistics Agency, for the Distribution Standard System, a single system that replaced multiple legacy distribution systems within DOD
Federal Emergency Management Agency, for the National Emergency Management Information System, which supports all operations for FEMA disaster responses
Food and Drug Administration, for the Mammography Program Reporting and Information System, an online program for tracking the certification of the more than 10,000 facilities that administer mammographies
Military Traffic Management Command, for the Pilot Transportation Operational Personal Property Standard System, an online system that tracks the movement of personal property for service families transferred to new locations
NASA, for its communications research efforts, through which the agency is investigating ways to integrate its extensive web of satellite communications with Internet technologies
State Department, for its year 2000 initiative, through which the department identified and fixed problem code within a year
Tripler Army Medical Center, for the Theater Telemedicine Prototype Project, through which the Army is studying the use of telemedicine applications to improve care for patients in remote locations
Triservice Infrastructure Management Program Office, for its telecommunications support work, through which the TIMPO team maintains a communications infrastructure for all military medical systems within DOD.
